Hinchinbrook Island Expedition — 7 Days

Paddling the coast of Hinchinbrook Island and camping on the white sandy beaches is a true taste of paradise. These uninhabited islands offer stunning views and deserted beaches.  Our 7 day expedition style trip takes you away from it all and into what seems like another world; to let you relax, sometimes challenge yourself and always enjoy nature at its best.  As you explore the east coast of Hinchinbrook Island the breathtaking beauty of this wilderness will be revealed, the lush temperate rainforest gives way to towering granite peaks, there are countless sheltered sandy bays. 3 -4 hours paddling each day allows plenty of time, to explore Zoe Bay, swim in crystal clear fresh water pools, relax in a hammock and enjoy this pristine environment.  Evenings are spent camping under the stars, enjoying some local tales from our experienced guides and a glass or two of wine over a sumptuous dinner.

Hinchinbrook Island is part of the UNESCO, World Heritage Listing for it's unique flora and fauna. The waters of the Coral Sea which surround Hinchinbrook Island are part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, world renowned for its abundant marine life offering us a chance to view sea turtles, dolphins and hopefully dugong. The islands offer excellent conditions to view many sea birds including, osprey, sea eagles and Oystercatchers.

From the island's northern tip we paddle across to Goold Island, on a low tide we can visit the remnants of the aboriginal fish traps on the beach. Our final days are spent further north amongst the idyllic Family Islands, Wheeler Island where we can snorkel over fringing reef and spend our last night on the islands.  Our final day includes a celebratory lunch at beautiful Dunk Island before ending our trip on South Mission Beach.

Trips depart Mission Beach on Sundays, pre trip meetings Saturday evening prior to departure.
