En Plein Air w. Kim Rayner

7 Day Sea Kayak Expedition
30 August - 5 September 2026
& 14-16 September
[3-DAY  Kayak & Paint the Islands]

An En Plein Air painting journey through tropical islands.

Over 3-4 guided sessions across 7 days, we'll explore a postcard painting series, immersive Plein Air work, and nature-based experimentation.

This is my favourite way to share painting - responding directly to the landscape and translating immediate light and atmosphere.  All materials are provided, and participants are gently supported to create one or two paintings per session, drawing inspiration from surrounding forests and the natural environment.

A hands-on creative immersion shaped by place, presence, and connection - to land, sea, and one another.

We'll live simply and close to nature - kayaking between islands, swimming, diving, and painting outdoors as light, weather, and landscape shift around us.  Evenings are for shared meals, reflection, and community under the stars.

ARTIST BRIEF - KIM RAYNER

Kim Rayner is a contemporary painter based in Mission Beach, Far North Queensland. Her work explores the meeting point between coastal rainforest and the light of the Coral Sea. Living and working within this landscape gives her a direct and ongoing connection to nature, which deeply informs her practice.

Rayner’s paintings focus on light, atmosphere, and organic form. She is drawn to the shifting patterns of light moving through dense tropical rainforest and across the ocean. The moisture-filled air, layered vegetation, and changing coastal conditions shape both her visual language and emotional response to place.
